Psychotherapy Process: How it Works

  • CONSULTATION CALL / PRE-SESSIONS

    ✶ Initial discussion of current struggles, expectations, and therapy goals. Introduction to the process of experiential dynamic therapy approach.

    ✶ We will pick a day and time to meet and begin our therapy work together.

    ✶ After the call, I will send you Legal documents via Simple Practice.

  • SESSION 1

    ✶ We work to identify the specific issues or core problems that brought you to seek therapy.

    ✶ Together, we will set realistic and relevant therapy goals and craft a plan for your therapy journey. Identifying specific goals. Understanding your unique challenges in sexual, relationship, or career areas.

    ✶ Introduction to ISTDP and Brainspotting techniques as relevant.

  • SESSIONS 2-5

    ✶ During our sessions, we will delve into your on unconscious feelings, defense patterns, behaviors, thoughts and somatic experience to gain insights into the root causes of your issues. This might include examining past experiences or relationships that have shaped you.

    ✶We'll work on encouraging emotional breakthroughs, and I'll assign reflective exercises to build insight.

    ✶ Begin uncovering hidden feelings and anxieties. Build therapeutic relationship.

  • SESSIONS 5-15

    ✶ We'll deepen our exploration of unconscious processes, facilitating emotional mobilization and healing of past emotional trauma. We'll address resistance and confront barriers to connection and strengthen adaptive responses.

    ✶ Deepen understanding of internal conflicts and how they impact body and relationships.

    ✶ Strengthen emotional insight into practical application in the “real world”.

  • SESSIONS 15 - Onward

    ✶ We'll integrate new emotional experiences and explore and modify long-standing patterns and beliefs. We'll assess readiness for termination, ensuring alignment with therapeutic goals and personal growth.

    ✶ Deepen work to explore long-held patterns, beliefs, and traumas using ISTDP.

    ✶ Explore future goals, aligning with integrity and who you truly are.

  • Notes

    ✶ I'll continually evaluate the therapy's effectiveness and ensure alignment with your evolving needs, making adjustments as necessary.

    ✶ Ending therapy is determined by progress, alignment with goals, and your desires and needs.

    ✶ Although the above structure serves as our general guide, it may be subject to change. Each plan is tailored to individual needs, and we'll make necessary adjustments to best support your unique journey.
